Looking for children to join the After-School Childcare Centers from April 2025.

After-School Childcare Centers are in the same district as your child’s elementary school.

They are open until 7pm from Monday to Saturday (Closed on public holidays). They are also open from 8am on Saturdays and school holidays, such as spring, summer and winter vacations.

Eligibility

This program is open to children whose parents are not home after school due to work or other reasons. However, this is only for children whose parents are not home after school for more than 15 days per month and for more than three months in a row.

Monthly Childcare Fees from April 2025

Childcare Fee… After school until 6pm

Extended Childcare Fee… 6pm – 7pm

Pay per Use (only for extended care)… Pay per number of extensions

Category A (Monday to Saturday)

Childcare Fee: 6,000 yen

Extended Childcare Fee: 3,000 yen or Pay per Use

Category B (Monday to Friday)

Childcare Fee: 5,000 yen

Extended Childcare Fee: 2,500 or Pay per Use

Category C (Only 4 days out of Monday through Friday) Childcare Fee: 4,000 yen

Extended Childcare Fee: 2,000 yen or Pay per Use

※ When applying for Extended Childcare, please specify whether you would like to pay monthly or Pay per Use (150 yen per extension up to 30 minutes per day).

※ Parents/Guardian must pick up the children when after 5pm.

Payment Reduction and Exemption System

・Full Exemption

① Households receiving public assistance.

② Households exempt from paying Yao Municipal Tax and/or Osaka Prefectural Tax (for FY 2025).

③ The third and subsequent children of a family with three or more children attending an after-school childcare center.

④ For the month(s) of absence, applied for in advance.

・50% Reduction

① Households paying Yao Municipal Tax and/or Osaka Prefectural Tax on a per capita basis (For FY 2025)

② The second child in a household where two or more children from the same household attend an after-school childcare center.

Required Documents

Application forms are available at the after-school childcare center at each elementary school. The application forms can also be downloaded from the Yao City Website:

To apply, you will need documents such as proof of employment for the parents/guardian and other family members living together.

Please apply within the application period. Late applications may result in unable to join after-school childcare center starting in April.
There are also times where you cannot join because space is full.

■Application

▶ Electronic application: Please apply by January 14, 2025.

All documents, including certificate of employment, must be sent and signed electronically with your My Number Card.

▶ In Person: Please bring your application and required documents directly to the After-School Childcare Center at each elementary school or the After-School Childcare Development Office at Yao City Hall by January 14, 2025.

▶ By Mail: Please mail your application and required documents to the After-School Childcare Development Office. Please make sure to send it by a traceable method such as Registered Mail. Applications must be postmarked no later than January 14, 2025.
