Regarding the Japan’s National Pension System

All individuals residing in Japan between the ages of 20 and 59, regardless of nationality, are obligated to enroll in the National Pension System.

Through paying monthly premiums, this system provides financial support when unforeseen events occur in old age, such as serious injury, severe illness, or death.

National pension premiums may be exempted when your income is low, during periods of unemployment, or while you are a student.

For more information, please consult the National Pension Section at the Citizen Affairs Division.

The website below provides information on public pension system, including the National Pension System, in English, Chinese, Vietnamese, and 11 other languages.
